Itinerary.

Wednesday - Ayutthaya:
Depart Bangkok in the morning aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express and Lunch is served in the restaurant as the train journeys northwards through the Thai countryside. Disembark at Ayutthaya for a guided tour followed by a river cruise. During the evening, enjoy dinner on board as the train continues its journey. Retire to your compartment which has been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Thursday - Chiang Mai:
Breakfast is served to you in your private compartment before arrival into Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second largest city and is renowned for the greatest concentration of handicraft industries in the country. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of some of the attractions before returning to the Eastern & Oriental Express for lunch. Dinner and overnight onboard the train.

Friday - Kanchanaburi:
Enjoy breakfast as the train makes its approach to Kanchanaburi where you disembark. The E&O stops to allow passengers to disembark. Guides escort you on the short walk down to the jetty to board a local raft for a cruise along the lush greenery of the picturesque Kwai Yai River, passing under the Bridge. On board, a local historian provides a brief overview of the history of the Thailand-Burma railway and the bridge.
At the E&O landing point you board a motor coach for a brief trip past the North Temple and Chinese Cemetery to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre. As you explore the informative museum, the historian is available to answer questions. There is time to visit the Don Rak War Cemetery adjacent to the museum if you wish. Rejoin the coach for the short ride to the Kanchanaburi railway station to board the Eastern & Oriental Express. After rejoining the train, lunch is served before arrival in Bangkok during the afternoon.
On arrival in Bangkok transfer to your chosen hotel for a two nights stay.*

Saturday – Bangkok.
Day at leisure in Bangkok.

Sunday – Bangkok.
Dinner is served as the train travels out of the city into the countryside with its rice-fields, villages and water buffalo. Retire to your cosy compartment for the night.

Monday - Wang Po & River Kwai.
Awake early in order not to miss the excitement of the train making its way from Wang Po along the wooden trestle viaduct beside a towering cliff. Later that morning the E&O stops at Kanchanaburi where you disembark for a private tour. Rejoin the E&O train to continue your journey. Reflect on the day"s sights over dinner and later drinks in the Bar Car.

Tuesday – Butterworth.
After breakfast the train arrives at Butterworth. Here coaches take you across to Georgetown on the local ferry. At Weld Quay trishaws take you through many of Georgetown’s interesting districts. Return to the Eastern & Oriental Express for lunch. Spend the afternoon watching the passing scenery and dine again in one of the opulent dining cars. Spend a relaxing evening in the Bar Car with its resident pianist for your last night aboard.

Wednesday- Singapore.
All too soon after breakfast, the train crosses the causeway of the Straits of Johor into Singapore via where it"s time to disembark.
